The Hampden Debate – and Labour piked! sez it all…

Hampden Union Debate Affirmative Team Confirmed

Hi All - Attached is a flier for the above event. You may have already heard about this debate so this is just
to update the situation.

The Govt declined (as did the Bluegreens, the Youngnats, the local Nats, Act, Maori Party, and Labour)
but we are delighted to confirm an exciting replacement team to take the affirmative which includes
  • Gerry Eckhoff former MP and now ORC Councillor,
  • Bruce McNab Federated Farmers representative on the Landcare Trust, and
  • economist Associate Professor Paul Hansen of University of Otago.
We feel that the sustainability of boundless growth in a finite world is a question that we have yet to face up to
and which underlies many emerging environmental issues. So we want to have a wide cross section of informed
people in the audience who might contribute to the discussion/comments after the debate.

Hampden School kids will present something on skills and the economy lost to the area which may be important for us to
try and preserve. Radar has agreed to respond to their presentation so that should be entertaining!
So please come and join the fun with us and/or pass this on to anyone else you think may be interested in this subject.
Now we have confirmed both teams, I think tickets will go quickly this week. Contact details on the Flier.

Kind rgds, Dugald MacTavish (Chair, Hampden Community Energy Inc)
